How We Met

"He came into my life gently, like the rain on the first days of the school year…"

He came into my life gently, like the rain on the first days of the school year. The feeling is still here: a new school, a new friend. The teasing from his friends made me laugh: "Your drawing grades are only 4.5 and 5, yet you claim to teach someone else how to draw?" A funny, warm Southern voice over the phone made me curious to meet him the next morning (September 30, 1997).

That day changed my life, and yours too, right Lang? For the first time, I dared to look straight into a boy's eyes, and you know what? I still remember clearly that at that moment, I couldn't recall anything except his eyebrows. I looked at them for a long time because I couldn't see his eyes — they were too small… but I found a great love within his "tiny" monolid eyes. Our lives began with those rains.

I met her during the first week of the academic year, in 1997. I was a sophomore; she was a freshman, brand new. My first impression was watching her park her motorbike in the schoolyard — she had no idea someone was quietly watching. She looked gentle and saintly. Surely she is the one, but how could I approach her?

A few days later, some close friends and I decided to follow her home. She was quite an impressive rider! We had a real chase that none of us will ever forget. Her home was a shop — and the phone number was printed right on the sign. How convenient! Through a mutual friend, I called her, and using all my persuasion skills, convinced her to meet me the next day.

September 30 of that year became an unforgettable memory. She went home with a smile on her lips, and our love story began.
